Setting up a home school station
If you find yourself spending way too much time trying to corral all of the things that go with the new reality of homeschool here’s a quick and easy fix. All of the items were sourced from Target.
Start with a vertical storage unit. This helps you get more things in a smaller space while keeping things close at hand.
Try to keep most of your things in a contained space. This lets you set up quickly, get to work sooner, and tear down quickly.
Since you’ll use a lot of different things for younger children, use a variety of storage containers. Think small bins for things with small pieces, larger bins like laundry baskets for those harder to corral items. Use shower totes for school accessories like markers and pencils.
Label the storage. Using dry erase board markers and labels make changing things as needed easy.
Use hanging shelves for extra storage. These make any closet or hanging rod useful for paper, books, and tablets.
Use hangers with clips for paintings, wet brushes, and damp cloths.
Add a boot tray under your hanging space to catch drips from paint and water experiments. This also gives you a durable place to dry tools, let glued items dry and store clean cups.
Choosing a tall rack or shelf unit and containers that work with your design aesthetic makes repurposing this later easy. If you’ll use your home school station in a kids’ room later, perhaps purchase more colorful items. Watch through the video to see Margot and me swap out the neutral set for some multicolored totes.
